It was an awesome night of food, talk, reminiscing and catch up! Not a huge fan of Pastamania, but I do love a good Aglio! Especially now they have this new pasta range of Wholemeal Spaghetti! Very good news for people like me, since I don't particularly fancy the whole floury pasta taste. Wholemeal spaghetti is a whole-grain product. Wholemeal products are made from whole-grain flour. Like wholemeal bread, wholemeal pasta is made from wheat with the husk intact. Wholemeal pasta also comes in a variety of shapes, most commonly spaghetti and lasagne. You want to ask, what's the difference between regular pasta and wholemeal pasta? Regular pasta is made with semolina flour, a type of refined flour. Refined flour is made by first removing the hull, germ, and bran of the grain kernel, leaving only the endosperm. Processors refine grains this way to extend their shelf life and give flour a finer texture. Whole grain pasta is typically higher in fiber than regular pasta, although the amount may vary by manufacturer. The higher fiber content of whole grain pasta is because it is made with whole grain flour which includes the germ and bran. Fiber helps to remove cholesterol from your digestive system and slows stomach emptying so you feel fuller longer after a meal. Fiber is also what helps you conquer constipation. You can read more here if you're super interested. In short, I love wholemeal spaghetti! :)) The best part of the evening was the awesome awesome company that's absolutely irreplaceable! Good food and good company makes for an awesome night. Stomach is satiated and I feel contented. :) Labels: Food Thursday, July 28, 2011 | 11:29 am | 0 comments
I love almond pudding!!!! But unfortunately, I only bought one pack of the pudding mix, which wasn't sufficient for 6 bowls of yummy goodness. BUT I have mixed fruit cocktail! So I married the two ingredients and it was enough for about.. 8 to 10 cocktail cups! Teehee.. Yummy goodness for the hot hot weather, SHIOK LA! Do you LOVE the sun?? Before you go frolicking in the sun, there are some basics about sunlight and protecting your skin against the harmful UV rays! SPF Rating: According the the Straits Times Urban article, there are 2 kinds of ultra-violet rays (UV rays), UVA and UVB rays, both of which can cause skin cancer. UVA - Causes wrinkles UVB - Causes skin burning SPF (Sun Protection Factor) measures the length of time the product will protect your skin against UVB rays, as compared to how long your skin will burn without protection. As a general guideline: Fair-skinned people: Can stay in the sun for about 10 minutes without any sunscreen Dark-skinned people: Can stay in the sun for about 30 minutes without any sunscreen So if a fair-skinned person apply a SPF 15 sunscreen, they can stay in the sun for 150 minutes without getting burnt. It's a simple calculation of the SPF number multiplying the length of time you can stay in the sun without getting burnt. However, it is highly recommended that you apply a minimum SPF 30 no matter your skin tone because most people tend to under-apply their sunscreen, thus a higher SPF number is necessary for adequate protection. The standard sufficient amount of sunscreen is actually 2 teaspoons! Of course you're not gonna pour your sunscreen on a teaspoon to measure it, it's a rough gauge, everyone knows how big a teaspoon is right! hahaha! I redeemed my FREE sample! I like how bright the whole packaging is, especially that small cat at the bottom. So cute! This sunscreen is a whopping SPF 130!!! Definitely can use it for your day out at the beach, you can lounge around and frolick the whole day away in the sun without having to worry about getting burnt! HURRY! Redeem your FREE sample HERE Labels: Beauty | 6:02 pm | 0 comments
Cooked lunch today heehee, been a looooong time since I'm able to do that on a weekday. Feels sooooo shiok okay! Lunch for just me and mum, can experiment with new recipes!Cooked soba today! The dressing is very very very nice! I loved it! The seaweed and sesame seeds adds an awesome touch to the dish and brings out the other flavours more intensely. Overall it's mildly sweet, slightly tangy, salty and very very fragrant and appetizing! :)) Labels: Food Sunday, July 24, 2011 | 11:28 pm | 0 comments
The Final Battle: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 I'm sorry, but Voldemort is looking uglier and uglier lol.. This is cute. Ron is looking very faux roguish hahah.. I think they look cute together :) Their bickering have always been entertaining. The darkest hour, when Voldy and his band of Death Eaters arrive to kill, claim, conquer. "It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends." - Dumbledore "It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew - and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents - that there was all the difference in the world. " This scene broke my heart. Truly. It's heartwrenching.. If you weren't moved by Snape's undying love for Lily, then you must be an unfeeling robot. Even after reading the book a gazillion times, when it reaches this part, I still feel like crying.. "It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well." - Dumbledore They played a giant part in my childhood, all those hours spent immersed in the books getting lost in the magical world of Hogwarts..has finally come to an end.. Downloaded this to watch. Conclusion? I LOVED IT. How could anyone not love this? Starring my all-time favourite Scarlett Johansson and the mighty hot Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, with an intriguing plot, it's a done deal man... At a turning point in his life, a former tennis pro - Chris Wilton (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) falls for a femme-fatal type - Nola Rice (Scarlett Johansson), who happens to be dating his friend and soon-to-be brother-in-law. The film started with this quote, and the scene of an empty tennis court. It sets the mood and theme of the film, and it's intriguing. It makes you curious about the quote and how exactly it's justified , and you get sucked into the plot. Easy peasy. Gotta admit the chemistry between Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johansson is red hot sizzling. Under the guise of teaching table tennis to Nora Rice- Scarlett Johansson, Chris Wilton - Jonathan Rhys Meyers got the opportunity to sidle up to her and act out on his desires. For a moment. Though I guess this is the part where he ascertains that he's in lust with Nora, and he wants to do something about it. Things were set in motion, emotions were running high, and their attraction for each other finally got the best of them. This rendezvous scene in the rain is definitely the turning point of the movie, when they finally gave in to the fatal attraction which later turned into an affair. According to Nola, it was a one-time affair thing, but Chris felt differently. He wanted more, something more tangible. He wanted a permanent affair, which Nola was, in the end, agreeable to. Chris lied to his wife Chloe and rendezvous with Nola numerous times a week, until one day.. The phone call came.. Nola got pregnant. Which in itself is an irony, because his wife Chloe has been wanting to get pregnant ever since they got married. But she didn't, yet Nola did. The million dollar question is, will Chris leave Chloe for Nola? For a moment there, I thought he would. I really thought he would. He seemed to love Nola. Then I saw through him. He wouldn't. Not when his marriage to Chloe gave him the comfortable life he got so used to, the car, the chauffeur, the high position in his father-in-law's office, all the musicals and Broadway and opera that he so enjoys.. No, he wouldn't leave Chloe, even if he enjoys a much more exciting sex life with Nola. But the plot took a twist. A surprising turn of events. He shot Nola. And her elderly neighbour as well, who was deemed as collateral damage. I wondered if he ever loved her. Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. Maybe Nola was simply an affair, someone he was in lust with, not in love with. But he didn't love Chloe, that much was obvious. She's nice, perfect wife material with a wealthy dad. Merely a stepping ladder to the comfortable life he wanted, and he couldn't achieve that with Nola. If you were wondering whether Chris got arrested for killing Nola and the elderly neighbour.. He didn't. Which goes right back to the starting quote of the movie. Chris is a lucky man. He wasn't good, but he's lucky. Labels: Movies Wednesday, July 20, 2011 | 3:52 pm | 0 comments
Yoghurt Drinks FTW! I love yoghurt drinks, they're so yummy and colourful looking, and it tastes even better than yoghurt! Tried most of the flavours already, love ALL of them haha. Can't really decide which one I enjoyed most, of course I'm biased towards mango flavour since it's my ultimate favourite fruit. But the tropical fruits also tasted fab, so does the mixed berries! The best thing is all the beverages comes in awesomely sweet pastel colours, the mere sight of it makes me super happy! :) If you haven't tried it yet, go and try now!!! IKEA'S YUMMY FOOD MUSHROOM SOUP! Wheeee this is nice! I can't say this is one of the best mushroom soups I've drank, but this is DEFINITELY worth a try. Loads of bite-sized mushroom bits inside, and there's meat inside too! Super sumptuous! Of course there's the requisite must-eat CHICKEN WINGS! Fried to a crispy skin on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside, the marinade must have been awesome, because the crispy outer layer tastes fabulous! Flavourful and delicious! I haven't heard of anyone who disliked the Ikea chicken wings, because honestly, what's there to hate?! Though it can be a little less oily, heard of kitchen roll Ikea peeps?? Please use more of them okay, don't be cheapo! Grandma's Bak Kut Teh After that is home sweet home for Grandma's specialty - Bak Kut Teh!!!! I can eat 5 bowls of this without rice, watch me mannnn... It is just so so so so sooooooooo awesome! Hard pressed to find another place with better soup than this, or maybe I'm just biased. Grandma cooked this so it's filled with lots and lots of ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ :)) It's a day of good food, my tummy is satisfied. Goodnight world! Labels: Food Saturday, July 16, 2011 | 2:28 pm | 0 comments

Sweet and spicy, yummy! If you're wondering why the ingredients so strange, that's cuz I cooked it myself LOL. Just add whatever is available in the fridge. Heading out later, ciao! I really like this quote alot, because I feel really strongly about this as well. When you feel comfortable in your own skin, then you'll feel beautiful about yourself, both inside and outside. When you feel pretty and good about yourself, most often than not, people find you attractive too! So get out there in your most comfortable clothes and show the world your best side! :) Labels: Thoughts Thursday, July 14, 2011 | 12:16 pm | 0 comments
The Battle of the Autobots This is the 3rd installment in this whole Transformers hype and frankly, I did not like it one bit. Personally, I felt that there wasn't much of a story line. I mean, yeah I get the fact that the bad guys aka Megatron and minions are after this energy stick to transport their planet to Earth. As usual the good guys aka Optimus Prime are trying to stop it. Battle of the autobots. Yes, I got that part. What I don't like it that fact that the storyline itself lacked depth. The entire movie seems like a prolonged version of a story outline or summary, and the middle part is just..kinda empty. Then they had to change another female lead, from the super hot Megan Fox to this other almost equally hot Britain supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whitley. Doesn't this photo kinda reminds you of the other photo of Megan Fox with her bared midriff posing with Bumblebee? One of those beautiful women with beautiful cars thing. Changing a face doesn't really make a difference because even in the past Transformers movie, Megan Fox was a vase. So now this Rosie lady is also a vase. Her presence in the movie probably just serves to up the box office sales because guys can't resist a pretty lady, right? It's genetically wired, people are attracted to beautiful things and people. So yes, my conclusion is that Miss Rosie here is merely a pretty face with not much contribution to the movie. Same with Miss Megan Fox. Bumblebee: I like Bumblebee! He's one of the very first character in the Transformers series and the most endearing as well. But eh I'm also wondering whatever happened to his radio voice. The radio voice is cute! Why did they take that away?! Optimus Prime: He's THE man you know. The hero. The saviour. The leader. The one in charge. You get the gist. Everyone turns to him for help, he's the most powerful and the strongest. If you lurveeeeee heros, then yes he's your man. Or should I say, robot. But in this instance, I love the sidekick more. Bumblebee is adorable! Sentinel Prime: This is the supposedly good guy but with the wrong intentions, reminds me of Magneto from X-men though. So he turned rogue and got killed by Optimus Prime and was unable to finish his evil deed. Personally I find the dangly mechanical beard funny LOL. Okay so all in all, this is one of the WORST Transformers movie, ever. Loads of fighting scenes but it's far too draggy and long-winded. Fighting for the sake of fighting. Meaningless. But hey if you're a guy, I doubt you'll mind that very much, afterall, it's still fighting. >.> Go figure. Labels: Movies Monday, July 11, 2011 | 5:06 pm | 0 comments
Complete the game to redeem the Bio-essence Celebrity’s Choice Trial Kit for FREE! The Game is from 20 June - 03 August 2011. The game is seriously cute. Basically it's one of those how-fast-you-can-click in a stipulated time frame games. Except they designed it such that there's this girl with flabby tummy, arms and legs in the picture. And everything you click the mouse, you're actually helping to rub the InchLoss Cream onto her body. It's split into 3 stages - mainly arms, tummy, thighs. How fast you can go on to the next stage depends on how fast you can make the girl slim down. HAHAHA. I attempted a dozen times, and even with 2 referrals I'm still unable to complete it. Until I psycho-ed my brother to help me with it. On his second try, WE ACTUALLY MANAGED TO COMPLETE IT! How exciting hahaha! So this is my prize! The trial kit consists of 2 bottles of samples. The PINK one is the shower cream, which you apply onto your unsatisfactory areas, and then you rub in a circular motion. Incidentally, the shower cream itself is an extremely sweet looking pinkish-red colour! It also smells very flowery-fruity. The RED one is the body lotion, which you apply onto the affected areas after your shower. In case you're wondering, nopes the lotion is not red colour haha! It's white! So I was supposed to feel this heating effect when I use it and.. strangely.. I only felt the heating effect AFTER I have used both the shower cream and body lotion. Maybe I just have a higher threshold for heat lol. Even then the heat wasn't unbearable or anything. It felt very comfortable, like you have a hot water bottle resting on your tummy, all warm and cuddly hahaha. As for the inches shaved off, I couldn't be sure. After all, I have only tried it once and I doubt the effects will take place after only one use. I should do it for 7 days lol, since that's what the box advertised. Lose the inch in 7 days! So what are you waiting for? To redeem your trial kit, please log on now to: Labels: Beauty Saturday, July 09, 2011 | 4:00 pm | 0 comments
Lunch: Soba and Pan-fried Gyoza Haven't had such a leisurely and supremely lazy Saturday afternoon for awhile.. Sleeping like a pig til the sun is shining on your butt, slowly waking up, taking your own sweet time munching on breakfast, settling on the sofa for an hour or so of reading, watching dramas, playing mundane games, blogging, checking email... The list is endless... So on this particular leisurely Saturday afternoon, I've decided to cook some lunch for myself! Soba with Perilla dressing and a dash of Tempura sauce plus some pan-fried gyozas! Top it off with some wasabi furikake! Yum yum! The Perilla dressing is a little tangy, so to balance it out for a more savoury taste, I added a dash of the Tempura sauce. The pan-fried gyozas were easy enough, and the wasabi furikake is a MUST! Love the spicy smell and taste of the wasabi powder and toasted sesame seeds! It was so easy, and it felt so great so be cooking for myself. I can add whatever I want, cook and eat whenever I'm hungry, and the best thing is I don't have to pander to others' taste buds. I can add whatever I want the way I like it! :) Have you had your lunch today? :)) Labels: Food | 1:40 pm | 0 comments
