Itacho Sushi

Met up with a fellow crazy friend for sushi lunch one day!!
Surviving our internship signifies a celebration, and what better way to do it than gorging ourselves silly on delicious sushi?!

Set our sights on the ever long queue ITACHO.
I understand the reason for the long queue now, I am now converted and will definitely go back again!

Matsu Set

This is the lunch set, it comes with a bowl of miso soup.
Very niceeeeeeeee!

This is what I call real sushi!
The rice MUST be SMALLER than the ingredient on top of it.
Their egg was so huge, we sliced it in half to share, and the sliced portion of egg can still cover all of the sushi rice below!

 Lobster and Mango Salad Roll

Mango mango mango!!!
A little tangy, but mostly very fruity sweet.
Super love this la!

Avocado and Soft Shell Crab Rolls

This is another creative roll that sent us into sushi heaven.
Delighted squeals when we tasted the first mouthful. WHY SO GOOD?!

Inari with Spicy Salmon

Sweet beancurd, always a crowd pleaser..

Roasted Scallop with Flying Fish

AMAZING STUFF.
Definitely worth a return visit.
The scallops were slightly grilled yet very very fresh. It retains all the juciness, and paired with the fish roe it just turns into this amazing combo. Like fireworks in your mouth.

Smoked Salmon with Black Pepper

I'm  not a fan of smoked salmon or sashimi.
But Itacho changed my mind!

Salmon with Soy Sauce

This is their promotion 40cents sushi.
Very very delicious!

Looking at all these food just, makes me salivate.
I WANT TO GO BACK TO ITACHO AGAIN!
Wait for me Avocado and Mango Rolls!
I'll be back!!!

Review: SANA Eyeliner

Hello there!

Guess what guess what?!
I'm going to be reviewing something today!

Proudly introducing..

SANA SUPER QUICK CRAYON LINER
 IN HAZEL BROWN

I joined the SANA product review program awhile back, where participants get to sign up to test some beauty items and write a review! In return, we get mailed a full-sized product. Not a bad deal, in my opinion. Eyed the selection of goodies and set my sights on this!!

It twists open like those old-school children crayons, very easy to use!

As you can see, it's not called crayon for nothing. Check out the super thick pencil.
The colour looks pretty good, so let's see how it shows up on skin!

Check out the swatches! I call it a "swipe" because it's really a swipe!
It goes on like a crayon, very smooth and simple to apply. I love the subtle shimmer

It's waterproof but not smudge proof.
But that's okay, because the shimmer makes it look like you have eye shadow on too! Just swipe and smudge on your lids. Voila~~natural looking eye liner!
How handy is that man..

Brown eyeliner is a very good colour for daytime use, because it's much more subtle than black.
At the same time, it does what an eyeliner is supposed to do, which is define your eyes and make them look bigger.

It also lives up to its name of "Super Quick", took me less than 5 minutes for each eye and I'm good to go!. It'll take me twice the time if I'm using my gel liner.

The verdict:
3/5

Not a bad beauty product to have around the house, I love the colour and easy application.
Very time-saving and handy!
Worth a try if you're looking for a brown liner like me!

Shed The Locks

People have often asked me how come I can bear to part with my hair.

No I don't mean I shave them off, though if I ever have the guts to do it one day, I would totally take part in Hair For Hope. At least I know my departed hair are in good hands.

What I actually meant, was simply cutting of hair.

I am probably one of the few rare specimens of girls left who feels fine snipping off the locks. I honestly feel fine. Some girls lapse into a one-week-depression, while some detest their new look and wished their hair would grow faster.

For me, I languish in the lightness of my entire head and delight in the refreshing new look. It's an exhilarating feeling, and you can't really understand how I feel unless you are like me too.

There are no regrets, hair do grow after all. With the exception of bad hairdressers who destroyed your hair. That is definitely a cause of distress. You have reason to get mad. But if you have found a good stylist whom you can rely on to give good advice and fabulous cuts, why not? Why not just enjoy the new look while it lasts?

I know some people whom are so unwilling t part with their hair, that the only thing they are willing to trim is their fringe. Seriously?!

Nobody will believe me, but trust me anyway when I say, you got to trim your hair to make it grow faster.

Sounds like one of those agree to disagree moments huh..
Hair, is a living thing. They suffer wear and tear too. Around every three to six months, most people would have discovered split ends in their hair. When that happens, hair growth slows down or halts. If you trim them off and give them new life again, chances ate they're going to start growing again.
The conclusion? The more you refuse to cut, the more it wouldn't grow. So hoarding all that length really isn't helping your cause.

The other thing, is that everyone has a maximum hair length. It dictates how long your hair will grow, the maximum length that it can grow to be. So if you wonder why you've been stuck at lower back for 10years, chances are that's your maximum hair length. Another 10more years won't get you any further. Or rather, longer.

The wiser choice would be to snip it off and save your scalp from further strain.
Occasionally give your poor overworked scalp a good rest before you start growing out your locks.

Wild Honey: No Place Like Home

California Breakfast

I was craving for scrambled eggs and didn't want anything too heavy so I decided on this dish.

Scrambled eggs, tofu, fresh herbs, green and yellow bell peppers, mushrooms and scallions on char-grilled ciabatta. Very nicely done. The eggs were fluffy and rather creamy. The ciabatta is pretty well-done, I like that it's crispy but also a little bit chewy. The thickness is just right. The bell peppers and tofu were refreshing. Overall, this is a lighter dish as compared to the Norwegian style breakfast below.

Norwegian Breakfast

This is a very savory dish and it's slightly more heavy on the palate.

Avocado, grilled asparagus spears, imported Norwegian smoked salmon, poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce, and salmon pearls on whole-wheat brioche.

I love the asparagus spears, nicely grilled and crunchy. The avocado slices were super rich and creamy, just died and floated to avocado heaven. First time trying the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. I think it's really yummy and flavourful. But very rich ah! No good for the cholesterol. So either work out like mad, or just have it once in a while a a treat!

Verdict: 4/5

The verdict is that this place serves fantastic all-day breakfast. It's also a really cozy place to enjoy your food. Except that the service is horrible yet we have to pay 10% service charge. It's practically non-service. We only got service because they staff are waiting to chase us away so they can clear the tables for others! Uber rude. If you can turn a blind eye or two to bad service, then why not give this place a try? Their breakfast dishes are really delish. Yumms.

What better way to showcase my art filters than this?!
In case you're wondering, there is 1 more filter known as the Diorama. But it would't show up well here, it's a miniature toy effect so I'll have to shoot something from a high angle. I'll post a Diorama picture soon in another post. Be sure to look out for it!

Spent hours editing this collage, I think it looks really good haha! If I say so myself!

Last but not least, I'm posting up a very belated but cool birthday card for my wonderful friend.
Please ignore the fact that it came late, because it must be posted in conjunction with the belated birthday brunch post! That and the fact that I didn't have time to edit the photos haha!

Yes yes, sorely overdue post, but..good things are worth the wait right!
The  food photos are so nice so I think the wait is definitely worth it! (self-praise oops!)

And I wouldn't mind trying the Full English Breakfast next time haha! Super attracted by that but that is one hugeass portion so let's share okay! hehh!

Pasta @ Bakerzin

Catch-up session with one of my best friend one fine day.
He is, without a doubt, one of the most dependable and reliable and trustworthy friend ever.
The best kind of buddy anyone can ever have.
And I'm so lucky to have found such a friend.

Feast your eyes on some pasta!
I think bro's tomato pasta is much nicer than mine. Mistake aiya..
But never mind, the company is so much more important and memorable than this plate of pasta.

Olympics Withdrawal Symptoms
This is it.

The 2012 London Olympic Games is officially over.
I am definitely suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

The Closing Ceremony is especially memorable.
The Spice Girls appearance in bling bling London cabs were so va-va-vooom!

Then it was Monty Python's Eric Idle!
Such a joyful and happy performance. I really applaud the effort that has gone into the planning and execution of the ceremony. Everything is so wonderful.

I wonder what else I can watch now that the Olympics is over.
Maybe Winter Olympics! That would be fun.

Hong Kong Pork Ribs

Mum calls these Hong Kong Pork Ribs, probably cause the packet sauce says Hong Kong Pork Ribs Marinate. LOL.

But it tasted super good. These are baked by the way.

Mum marinates them then bakes them.
The meat is tender and flavourful. I have no idea how to describe Hong Kong flavour, since I have never been to Hong Kong haha! But this is also one of my favourite homecooked dish.

Please just look at the pictures and try to imagine what is Hong Kong flavour okay?
hahaha!

Jotei

To be honest, I watched this because I'm a huge fan of Matsuda Shota and as usual he didn't disappoint. But I find this whole storyline a little lacking in something. I like the whole night club hostess and Japan yakuza plot though, really gives an insight to the Japan night scene businesses.

Except the ending is a little too reminiscent of sappy Korean dramas where the male or female lead dies and leaves the other half with a baby or young child. Too typical.

My 3 cents worth of rating, definitely only 3 stars.

Rating: 3/5
It's good, but it isn't all that awe-inspiring or mind blowing.

Mushroom Pot

Met up with a bunch of power ranger girls a couple weeks ago for some steamboatttttt.
I wonder who suggested steamboat in this kinda crazy weather, but okay it's a nice change!

We decided on Mushroom Pot, so lots and lots of mushroom dishes!

This is my favourite!

Well, next to this I guess. These were fantastic as well. Nomnomnom..

Spicy and Chicken soup base.

The spicy one is..really spicy. Good thing it's a duo soup base.

Love the giant brown things, I forgot what it's called. They taste fantastic in both soup bases.

Group shot!!

Stripy Nails

I really like the idea of stripy nails, but the sheer torture of free-handing stripes is just so irritating!
I should have used tape, but I just couldn't be bothered to go through all that trouble.

Guess I can work on fine tuning these designs, or maybe just invest in a striping brush to make my life easier. Don't think those would be too expensive, or I should just clean my good China Glaze brush for striping. Those are really good and precise.

Well, hope you enjoy this cheerful design. I'll be back with more soon!

Antoinette Mandarin Gallery

Date with Ting some time ago..
She has decided to introduce me to this lovely meal called "brunch".

Desserts make me hungry!

The branch at Mandarin Gallery is much more posh than the one at Penhas Road.
Look at the armchairs! Screams royalty and classiness.
Which means I must watch my behaviour, no clumsy accidents or angsty rants over meals.
A bit stressful eh..

Poached Eggs with Smoked Duck!

The duck is super super succulent! Love the duck, and the sauteed mushrooms with onions.
First time trying poached eggs, feeling slightly disappointed because the egg is cold!
But the runny yolk is a perfect fit for drenching the toast. Yums.
Maybe next time I should try scrambled eggs instead.

Ting has Smoked Salmon. Oh the salad is also very good, love the dressing. Vinegar is refreshing on the palate and pairs well with the rest of the ingredients.

What can I say, my first foray into brunch is certainly a good one.
But best of all, good company beats good food, anytime.

The Olympics Nail Fashion

The 2012 London Olympics are upon us!

I love the opening ceremony.
Totally awestruck. Such a stunning and amazing performance. Almost magical.

The other stunning element in this year's Games, is the rise of nail art among the Olympians.
Many of them have been spotted sporting some fantastic designs on their fingers.

The rise of nail art is definitely something to look forward to.
Check out all the amazing designs that were caught on screen this year!
