Bucket List #6

It is one of the best feelings in the world.
I've let one into the sky in Thailand. I remember it's a dark pink lantern.
The whole sky is lit up with multi-coloured floating lanterns and it looked sooooo beautiful.

Definitely a must-do in this lifetime.

Bucket List #2

China is such a wonderful place. All that culture, history and the beautiful architecture. Not forgetting, the awesome yummy food! Yes and I saw my first Sakura in China too!
Please don't doubt me, China has Sakura because it was a gift from Japan, bilateral ties etc.

It's definitely a must visit before you die.
Simply because their xiao long baos taste too fastastic.
Yes even the random street vendors sell top grade xiao long baos.
I know you're salivating now.  ;)

Bucket List #1

I prefer to call them muffins.
Simply because I abhor all the weirdo sweet stuff people pile onto cupcakes.
Muffins are more real.

Review: Bifesta

Review: Bifesta

Thanks to Nuffnang, I had the opportunity to try out the new

Bifesta Water-Based Makeup Remover!

Bifesta, formerly known as Cleansing Express is a Japan brand. The specialize solely in makeup removers. How's that for niche eh..

Their cleansing lotions come in 4 different varieties to suit all skin types. I got the try out the Sebum lotion for oilyyy skin. Suits me.

It says here that after using Bifesta, no more further cleansing is required. Let's see how effective that it!

30ml sample!
Bifesta is a WATER-BASED CLEANSER so you can skip the step of further cleansing, and jump straight into bed! If need be, a warm water rinse is enough.

Let's try with something a bit more stubborn than foundation or BB cream. Eye liner! Dirty enough. See how Bifesta fares against this enemy!

BIFESTA VS EYELINER

STEP 1:

First, soak your cotton pad with loads of Bifesta.

STEP 2:

Place the cotton pad over the dirty area and wait!

STEP 3:

Rub gently at the dirty area, bear in mind I'm doing the sample on my hand, in reality this would be your eye, heh so take extra care!

TADAHHH! The makeup is rubbed away and let's see how clean is my hand!?

VERY CLEAN! Feels non-greasy to the touch too because this cleanser is water-based! Very nice...

BIFESTA VS EYELINER RESULTS:

BIFESTA WINS!

Favourite 2012 Oscar Looks
The Oscars have arrived, and I am thrilled to say that all I care about is how well-dressed these ladies are. This might make me sound like a bimbo, but who cares?!
All girls love a good dose of fashion. :D

Men are all tuxedo, boring. I don't get the difference between a one-button blazer or a two-button blazer. As for the colour, there can only be one safe choice: Black.

In other words?

BORINGGGG!

So since men are boring, let's look at the ladiesssss! ;)

Natalie Portman in vintage, a Dior Haute Couture dress from the 1954 collection paired with Dior shoes.

The red is a nice colour, complements her skin tone with dark hair perfectly. I like how she's able to look classy as always, very elegant and charismatic.

Okay. I am biased. A little. I love Natalie Portman. She looks gorgeous in about anything. She can probably wear a sack and still look as lovely.
The world is unfair.
BUT I STILL LOVE HER.
 hahaha!

Gwyneth Paltrow in a Tom Ford white gown with a cape!

That cape is really cool. Out of all the white gown subscribers of the night, I must say hers stand out the most.  Simple, clean cut with a twist.

Michelle Williams in a Lois Vuitton coral gown.

I am loving this gown man!! The pleats and the details, the colour, the cut. It's PERFECT.
It's simple and elegant, yet the splash of colour adds a dash of playfulness. Michelle Williams's pixie cut goes very well with the colour, makes her look young and playful.

♥ x 100!!!

Emma Stone looks resplendent in a  Giambattista Valli gown..

Yes I love the fuschia colour!!
Hahahaha I love bright colours! The cut shows off her figure, and the high neckline looks modest. But because her shoulders are bare, she still looks really sexy as well!

The best part about this gown, is the huge ribbon at the neckline!
I love the ribbon!
It's daring, it's special, it's cute.
It suits Emma Stone! So pretty!

Is is possible for me to have another  ♥ x 100 dress?

HAHAHA!

Stacy Keibler in a Marchesa dress

Some might argue that she resembles the little gold man on the trophy. But I personally feel she looks lovely! What a sweet smile haha..

THAT HAIR IS SO AWESOME TOO.

This is her little trick to making her waves stay on one shoulder the entire night.
Nifty.

Milla Jovovich looking gorgeous in a sequinned Elie Saab gown..

There is something about this sequinned gown and Milla Jovovich that makes her looks like an ice queen.
A sexy, beautiful, deadly ice queen.

Very nice indeed...

Jessica Chastain in a baroque embellished Alexander McQueen..

This is so beautiful!! How can anyone hate it?!!?
The gold embellishments are really special, and especially striking against the black dress.

A teeny bit of cultural mix in the dress, looks a little like our Indian traditional costume but the shiny gold reminds me of Egyptian costumes too!

Overall a very beautiful and exquisitely designed dress.

French manicure
Stress and denial to do work strikes, and I decided to try out the nail guides I bought.

It's actually very tricky and difficult to attempt a French manicure by yourself. But DIY is always so fun, despite the disappointing results sometimes.

It's 10 times more difficult than a normal paint job, things always go wrong.. Such as the nail guide tearing out my base coat -.-
So I had to go with a layer of base coat again which is kinda..irritating. Too much air bubbles as usual.
Been working on it in the middle of the night while watching a gory movie. Bad idea.

Shall attempt something different soon. Hmm..

It looks pretty awesome from far hahahahah.

Despite the difficulties, I kinda like the clean look. Maybe I'll practice more til I can perfect it freehand HAHA... That might happen, probably next year lol...

Tao Kae Noi
Winning the Tao Kae Noi Scratchcard Contest!

Oh yeah you must be thinking, omg that's so lucky! Wonder what's the prize...

So I travelled all the way down to Orchard Central to find the ulu shop..

This is the prize.

I know. Totally anticlimax. Utterly -.-

Best thing is the shopkeeper says he has no more carriers for me, so he expects me to HUG the frigging box on the train home. Very smart dude. He had a bigger plastic bag, but stingy him refuses to give me the carrier with an excuse it's still too small.

HELLO??! Do you have no common sense at all??!
Since your shop is a participating outlet in prize redemption, I would expect some basic courtesy and common sense. Seriously. You think I carry around a recycling bag everyday?!

I stuffed that into my school bag, totally uncomfortable.

Unwrapping it this morning, it revealed this.
2 packets of  Spicy Smoked Chicken Flavour Seaweed.

And this, a useless money tin can!

@___@

The seaweed was good, but the tin can utterly useless.
Oh welll...

If They’re Not Husband Or Wifey Material,
They’re Not Worth It
(Excerpts from Thought Catalog)

I love the concept of dating. I love courtship, getting to know someone, those first butterfly-filled moments where you’re hyper-aware of everything you do and how they might perceive it, where everything they say is new and exciting. It’s a time that we seek over and over again because the kind of potential behind a first kiss is enough to counteract all the negative experiences we might have encountered in the past. And it’s also a time where you’re just figuring things out — there are no guarantees. You may end up becoming serious with this person, or they may just fall by the wayside and never be heard from again. It’s a time of limitless possibility and one in which, even if things don’t work out, it’s not going to really break any hearts. You took each other for a test drive, and just decided not to buy the car. It’s okay.
“Why do you date so much?”

It seemed a strange question, as just one generation ago, that would be unquestionably the norm — to court someone and decide, rather objectively (before the heady rush of serious sentiments comes into play) that things are just not going to work out. There were many fish in the sea, and wanted to meet many of them before I settled on one.

And when I did decide to date, I always saw a serious future as an option with my boyfriends. Only when I knew we couldn’t end up together did I break things off.

Now, that doesn’t mean you plan on marrying them or know for sure that they are “the one,” but if things keep going in this direction, that is where it should be headed.
This, of course, is quite the opposite of what many people today consider “dating.”
Now, we tend to just fall into relationships with whatever is close to us, convenient, or has already been conquered. Friends will incestuously date within their group of friends, over and over and over.

Friends with benefits whom people are not particularly interested in will become de facto boyfriends or girlfriends because, well, we need a date to a wedding.

We will exist in a nebulous state of “sort-of dating” our “half-boyfriends” for years on end because it’s better than being single.

And of course, if you ask these couples if they would ever consider settling down with said significant other, most would give you a resounding “no.”

They would even justify with a “I don’t need to see a serious future with someone I’m dating, it’s just to have fun.”

But could anything be more selfish, more unfair, more of an insult to the both of you?

First of all, how do we know that the other member of this couple feels the same way?

Perhaps what is just a game for you–something to pass the time until something better comes along–is something serious to them.

How many couples exist on two planes of commitment, completely unaware that the other doesn’t share their intentions.

And even if you are both completely indifferent about the other in the long-term, why become a couple? Why give your time, romantic energy, or half-hearted commitment to someone you don’t see yourself ending up with–for what are likely completely valid reasons? Why stay in this limbo?
It must be tightly interlocked with our deep, gnawing fear of being single. We just passed Valentine’s Day, and think of the hordes of people who used the occasion to spill out their hearts about how incredibly lonely they felt, how left out from a society they imagined as coupled-up, how less-than being without a significant other made them feel. And you don’t need to have a holiday to see this kind of behavior — even on a Saturday night, you’re bound to hear a friend complain about how they just wish they had someone to go out with — as though friends, family, or just themselves is not company enough. Sometimes I would see these kind of sentiments during the long periods of my singlehood, when I was going out on dates here and there but not feeling anything magical, and feel like the only person my age who didn’t care that I was single. I liked being single! Some of my best memories are walking around my city completely alone, doing everything I want to do in the day and not having to consider another person’s itinerary — seeing sights and being alone with my thoughts. Just sitting by the water with a glass of iced tea and a book was some of the most wonderful pleasures I can recall. Of course, my memories shared with significant others are just as beautiful — though in a different way. And loving running hand-in-hand with someone in the rain doesn’t negate an afternoon-long stroll by myself on a warm spring day.
But so many people, I fear, can’t quite enjoy this aloneness. They must replace it with someone — whether to calm their own anxieties or to fulfill some kind of social expectation of themselves.

We all know that the twenties are a perpetual state of being asked “if you’ve found someone,” and it can become grating, sure. But that is no reason to succumb to the pressure and pass your time with someone for whom lasting love will never be an option.

If you want to have a friend with benefits, or a one night stand here and there, more power to you!

But there’s no reason to transmute those into half-hearted relationships just so you can claim, when put on the spot, that you have “someone” in your life.

We all have many “someones” in our lives — family, friends, acquaintances, potential dates, our own quiet company. If this isn’t enough, perhaps you should think about why before you try and find another quick-fix partner to fill the void.

Finally, there is someone out there who understands me completely and is capable of capturing my thoughts perfectly. This new era of thinking is getting really awful, devoid of moral values. What is the world turning into?
I heartily agree with the author. 为什么要做贱自己,为什么?
One either
1. Dates, but breaks it off with there's no sparks
2. Friends with benefits - fine nothing wrong with that too, mutual physical gratification
3. Dates, sparks fly, serious relationship. If nothing goes wrong in this category, it is most likely that marriage comes into the equation
But unfortunately people nowadays do this more
1. Dates, no sparks, continues to do so and lead the other party on
Just like what the article said, how can you be sure that the other party feels the same as you do. One can argue that it is a mutual agreement. Nothing permanent, just a game. It might be a game to you, just someone to entertain and pass time with, but how can you be sure the other party doesn't want something more. There is bound to be one party weaker than the other, who will succumb more easily to their emotions while the other just takes and takes without a single care in the world.
How insanely selfish is that.
It's selfish and despicable, yet so many people do this and think there is nothing wrong with it. Moral values are nothing to them. I am pretty sure all of us are brought up to be kind souls, not to be selfish,  do unto others what you want done unto you, to have empathy. I am beginning to think that as we grow up, moral values are discarded along the way and they develop warped sense of morals. Morals that condone them to be the kind of selfish people they are turning out to be.
Others might argue that times have changed, we are no longer boring and traditional. But that's a sad thing too. Traditions and morals define who are, and now that people are throwing these basic moral values out of the window, it's just pathetic.
Times change, people change, things change. But there are certain things in life that remains the same, regardless of what era we're in. Wrong means wrong. There is no two way about that.
Sadly, less and less of the world  shares the same sentiments as me now.

“本来,一个女人上了男人的当,就该死;
女人给当男人上,那更是淫恶,杀了她还污了刀。”

I sincerely hope that, these people out there, you can learn to love and respect yourself more, and the people you are using more.

It was an awesome Valentine's Day.

But towards the end of the day, everything was perfect again. :)

Sticky sweets for the greedy cat..

The most lovely bouquet of roses :)

We are happy people heehee..

Pink Jelly Sandwich Nails
Doesn't this look awesome?

A little repetitive, but not too complicated, in fact it's pretty easy to do.

All you need is a glitter polish and a jelly polish! A jelly polish looks like opaque colours but they apply really sheer, so when you layer on the glitter, it'll look like it's being suspended in jellyyyyy.. Very cool right!

It's not too messy, since the jelly polish applies like a dream, and since it's so sheer, nobody can spot any mistakes hehh..

2 layers jelly, 2 layers glitter and 2 layers jelly. You can alternate the steps, it's all up to you. I'm loving this manicure! Subtle with a little bling!
Catches the sunlight and shimmersss as well.. :)

Love the whole spacey, dreamy, magical feel. The glitter pieces are amazing..

Polka dots! This is really easy! Have attempted and succeeded ;)

Nautical nails!!
Love all the bright colours. Popeye the sailor man, here I come!

These Popcorn Nails are just too cute to resist. The french manicure is a really clean look as well..

I love stripes!! The pastel colours work together perfectly to create this really sweet and warm summer vibe.
Unfortunately, stripes are hard to do. I have wobbly hands.

This is too awesomely cool, in theory I know how to do it. But well.. that's just in theory..

Bow Tie Nails!
