When it comes to buffet, I always feel a little apprehensive because the cheap ones are no good, and the good ones are not cheap. Food dilemma.
But this place, is one of the rare few that serves up pretty authentic Penang food, at an affordable buffet price as well!
The Penang char kway teow is hailed as one of the best in Singapore.
The prawns are fresh and bouncy, the veggie green and crunchy, eggs aplenty and kway teow oh so silky and flavourful. If I wasn't saving space for other dishes, I would have gone back for a second serving of this.
Another iconic Penang dish is the prawn mee.
Fiery red and flavorful, this one packed a lot of punch. The stock is sweet and mildly spicy, full of the sweetness of prawns. Slurp it up with the beehoon and noodles, you'll definitely want a second serving because the soup is just too addictive.
Penang laksa is also featured in this buffet, and this one really has the sweet sour spicy combination that'll have you coming back for more.
The prawn mee and laksa are at a self serve cooking counter, so you can add the laksa ingredients by yourself.
There is a very cool Penang rojak counter where you can make your own rojak. The prawn paste here is not too sweet or sticky, and the ingredients are very fresh and juicy. Paired together, it makes for a very appetizing dessert to wash down all the delicious food.
If you prefer traditional kuehs, they have a small selection available too.
Verdict: 3/5
Some hits and some misses, but I will return just for the prawn mee and the char kuay teow.
My only regret is they didn't serve the satay during the lunch buffet. I had it the previous time during the dinner buffet, and it was huge and juicy and appropriately charred at the corners. Best satay ever!
Overall, it's quite a delicious buffet for the price so, mai hiam buay pai la!

Noodle Place is located at the walkway in between Orchard Central and 313. Might miss it if you didn't pay attention, but fret not as I was attracted there by the aroma of their food.
Yes so like a dog, I followed the scent until I was standing in front of their shop.
Good start I think, also recently found out that the chef at Noodle Place was originally from the famous Hong Kong Mak's Noodles so you can expect quality food here.
Decided that due to limited stomach space, we shall try the two most iconic items in Hong Kong restaurants - Wonton Mee and Congee.
Look at that big fat wonton glistening, fresh juicy succulent prawns encased in a paper thin skin.
The noodles are springy and thin, the soup is clear and sweet.
Stir in some of that good old chilli and you'll have a mildly spicy soup base.
Congee smells fantastic and it looks very smooth.
There were a variety of ingredients inside, fish maw, nuts, cuttlefish just to name a few.
It is warm and comforting, simple food for the soul.
Verdict: 4/5
Yes this is a place that I will definitely return for simple, delicious and unpretentious food

This is a very overdue post, pardon my tardiness!
I was too busy sculpting minds and shaping thoughts haha!
Mouth Restaurant is located in an obscure corner of the old Plaza Singapura building and it was our choice for a 4 girls get together dinner.
Mouth Restaurant is famed for one very epic dish - their baked custard bun.
Yes they have the flowy custard bun too but they have gone one level up by baking it.
Think Tim Ho Wan Char Siew Bun X Custard Bun.
Proudly presenting to you...
Epicure Top 10 Baked Cream of Salted Egg Yolk Bun
Let it flow let it flow let it flow (Please sing according to the Xmas song tune)
The exterior was crisp and the yellow goodness was a blend of salty and sweet, warm and gooey.
This is one orgasmic food experience.
Sauteed Carrot Cake Cubes with Spicy X.O Sauce
Carrot cake redefined!
This was lip smacking good, the XO sauce was very fragrant and the carrot cake cubes were plump and soft. Beansprouts provided a nice bite to it and was refreshing from the heavy flavouring.
Sauteed Rice Roll with Prawn & Char Siew in X.O Sauce
I never thought chee cheong fan could look and taste this good.
I mean, it's always been a comfort dish when it was steamed, but I never knew sauteed chee cheong fan can be so delish too!
Verdict: 4/5
Their custard bun is enough to lure me back because that is one memorable dish. My only gripe is that the stir-fry dishes can be a tad oily, but other than that, thumbs up.

October is happiness because it meant holidays are near!
Celebrated a 4-day long weekend with a mighty food trail with a fellow foodie.
![]()
First stop: La Nonna
Week day 1-for-1-lunch is our favourite at La Nonna.
This time we ordered their Meat Lover thin crust pizza to try.
Amazinggggg, I loved the burst of flavours and the saltiness of the salami and pancetta.
Will definitely be back for more of this goodness!

Next stop: Saboten Tonkatsu
Crispy juicy tender pork, what more can I say.
Of course Ma Maison does it better but this is slightly cheaper alternative.
Sunday is rest day haha, so the final stop is at Toa Payoh Song Kee Fishball Noodle.
Kuay teow tossed in lots of chilli oil, fried shallots, pork lard, and topped with bouncy handmade fishballs and tau pok. This is THE stall where my grandma buys in bulk their handmade meatballs for our annual CNY steamboat. Best thing ever.
In life, there will always space for your $3 comfort food.
Weekend fun with sushi and softshell crab handroll while drinking hot green tea and watching the rain pours down in Orchard road.
Idyllic indeed.
October is a month of fun cooking..
Re-created my hashbrown and egg cup but this time with a runny yolk!
Toasted the croissant (ended up abit chao ta haha) and did it open-face style with some baked mushrooms and egg
More toasted croissant but this time I am less lazy so I scrambled some eggs to stuff inside the pastry.
Warm flaky croissant with creamy scrambled eggs, who needs a cafe when you can recreate cafe breakfasts at home!
To end off the month, a picture of my ducks going for a baseball match!
Too cute for words I know ;)
