A little weekend pick-me-up with a group of friends at a cosy little hideout.
Oh my pretty ladies with pretty #brenoverlays flags over their heads.
Now let's dig in!
Skyve Sous Vide Eggs Benedict - $18
English Muffin | Sautéed Wild Mushrooms | Sweet Corn | Streaky Bacon | Hollandaise Sauce
Sous vide eggs are a specialty of Skyve, so I would say this dish is a must-try.
I just opted for the scrambled eggs because I was craving for that.
So yes, if you were wondering what exactly is sous vide, let me provide a simple explanation below.
Sous vide is a method of cooking, and the word "sous vide" is French for "under vacuum".
It means t cook food in a sealed airtight plastic bag in a water bath for a longer time than usual. The purpose of this is to regulate the temperature and keep it lower than normal cooking temps.
The intention of this cooking method, is to cook the item evenly, and most importantly not to overcook the outside, thus making the food juicier.
Skyving’ Breakfast - $22
2 eggs with choice of style: Overeasy | Sunny side up | Scrambled | Soft Poached Choice of bread: Wholemeal | Sourdough | Brioche Served with: Wild Mushroom Fricassee, English Pork Sausage, Confit of Cherry Tomatoes & Roasted Baby Potatoes
I stole a few forkfuls of potatoes and a portion of the sausage off this plate.
The roasted baby potatoes were so flavourful and melt-in-your-mouth soft.
AWESOME.
Truffle Scrambled Eggs (V) - $18
Sourdough Bread | Truffle Scrambled Eggs | Grilled Baby Asparagus | Baked Portobello
Get a load of that hugeeeeee Portobello mushroom!
Oh, Skyve, I really think you serve up the most unpretentious brunch ever.
This is simple yet immensely satisfying.
I must say, the scrambled eggs were really fluffy and well done. I couldn't really taste truffle, but that could just be me. (I didn't taste truffle when I ate truffle fries too =X)
In addition, I find that the portion of food is also just right for me, I love it!
Warm Chocolate Brownie
Bing Cherry Compote | Vanilla Ice Cream | Toasted Almond Flakes
This was a mehh for me.
Cherry compote a little too sour for my liking, and the brownie wasn't fantastic.
Verdict: 4/5
I like the ambience of this place, very chillax and very elegant. It's tucked away in a corner of our city, so there wasn't too much of a crowd. The food they served up are of decent quality, and I'm quite in love their menu too.

Here's presenting a series of photos I snapped of my erm..bear while in Thailand.
Being the quirky tourist that I am, I bring this colorful monstrosity called Ah Cai whenever I go overseas, so here are some photos cataloging it's trip. HAHA.
All photos are painstakingly edited by me, the weirdo owner of this now extinct species of bear.
This is how my photos are taken, Ah Cai being used as a ahem.. prop to allow for a better angle HAHA.
Just chillin' with my owner's iPhone.
Like a boss yo..
That concludes this entry, didn't have more photos because I was busy shopping hahaha.
Bear Escapade in Taiwan coming right up though, just gimme some time to edit the phtos.

There's been lots of hype and anticipation about this nondescript little sushi shop nestled within Wisma Atria's Food Republic food court. Our foodie friend went to that place even before it was so popular, and he came back with the verdict that it was so good, we have to go and try it out. This is actually my second visit with my other friend, who also happens to be a fan of their sushi!
Hotplate Tofu
A different take on the Agedashi Tofu, this comes on a hot plate with sizzling sauce!
The tofu was soft and the exterior sufficiently crispy. Pair it with all the onion slices and the sauce, it's really quite unlike anything I've ever tasted!
Sashimi Salad
We also tried their salad, the sashimi slices were really fresh. But I felt this dish only fared an okay.
It was alright, nothing really remarkable.
Shiok Maki
Now, this is something not to be missed!
The Shiok Maki is Koh's specialty dish, and I think you can see why.
Charcoal grilled eel and avocado are wrapped in a layer of rice, then topped with lightly torched Aburi salmon and a generous portion of fish roe. It it then drenched in their special cheese sauce, the whole experience is just SHIOK!
The blend of flavours - slightly smoky flavour, creamy avocado, tangy special cheese sauce and the burst-in-your-mouth fish roe, is just amazingly tantalizing. This sushi rocked my world.
This is a highly photogenic and delicious dish that is not to be missed.
MUST TRY.
Volcano Maki
This is another one of my favourite dish.
The Volcano Maki has a wholly different flavour as compared to the Shiok Maki.
The Volcano Maki has a slightly spicy taste, and the overall flavour is much more refreshing and light.
Verdict: 4/5
Definitely worth a return visit, because their maki rolls are just so delicious and addictive!

The story goes that Iwase Ken (Yamashita Tomohisa) and Yoshida Rei (Nagasawa Masami) are childhood playmates and the very best of friends. They grew up together, played together, argued together.
But Ken never confessed to Rei, even though he has long fallen in love with her.
Until he has to attend her wedding.
His regret summoned up the elf residing in the church, and together they went back in time to change a little something. All in the hope that Rei will eventually marry Ken instead.
To find out if Ken fully made use of his second chance to win back the girl he loves, you'll have to watch the show to find out. But I assure you, it's full of laughter and comedic moments, as well as those "awww! just missed by a second!" moments. Ken's change was marvellous as you can see for yourself the effort he puts in to change history.
Verdict: 4/5 stars
I like how the emotions portrayed in this show is very real.
The regret, the sorrow, the happiness, the awkwardness.
Every little moment, every little action is a tug on the heartstrings; a reminder of all that we've lost, all those we've loved, and all those who've stuck by us all these years.
Proposal Daisakusen, definitely worth a watch.

I was so excited to finally be able to catch this remake of the classic Superman!
Henry Cavill as Superman
What a delicious Superman they've casted this time.
I prefer Cavill more than Brandon Routh.
Routh looks more..rougish somehow. Cavill has a certain manly bad boy charm yet he looks very clean cut at the same time. Thumbs up.
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
And I think Amy Adams is perfect as Lois Lane.
This is exactly how I picture Lois Lane to be like. I can't believe the team actually considered Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde cuz I don't think they're suited for the role. To me, Lois Lane is not a supremely beautiful character, rather she has a certain softness and bravado about her that makes her really stand out. Adams is perfectttttt. I like that she is not your conventional beauty, yet she exudes a certain charisma that just screams Lois Lane.
Maybe you'll remember her from Enchanted too, the princess that arrived at Earth.
This is one of my favourite feel-good movies that always makes me smile.
I do love my Superhero movies, but the previous versions of Superman just didn't strike a chord with me. Somehow, I just didn't like it, but this one blew my mind. I loved it. I love how the plot plays out and the whole history of Superman has been revealed in a very systematic manner that's easy to understand. I love it.
Verdict: 4.5/5
