I Love Flats!

Who says flats are out?!?!

To me, they are ALWAYS the most in thing!
Okay because I abhor heels. Walking in them always kills me.

Flats are my wonderful companion to all sorts of events, from casual to formal.
Unfortunately I always chose dark boring colours because it's easier to match my work clothes LOL.
Think black, dark blue.
In general easier to clothes matching.

BEHOLD MY NEW FLATS!!

They are NOT black or dark blue!!!!
Three cheers for me!!

My kickass shopaholic friend chose this colour for me, I think it's awesome.
I love the classic simple designs, and most importantly, I find them comfortable.
Some flats have pointed tips and I feel like my feet is choking inside the shoes!
*gasps*

Pointed tips prolly look much elegant, but my feet says no to them.
Me likes a good rounded spacious shoe tip, so my feet can breathe freely.
Deciding when I should break in my new shoessssss!!!

My shopping mood is still here, except the clothes are too expensive to consider. Buying shoes makes me excited and happy too lolol..

Chocolate Vanilla Cookies

I love these cookies!

Recipe from The Golden Book of Cookies.

These were eggless, it relied mainly on butter, sugar, cocoa powder, flour and vanilla essence.
I love the buttery vanilla flavour that really permeates the entire biscuit. It was crunchy, crisp and really fragrant. A very simple recipe and definitely a keeper. Worth a repeat creation!

Was experimenting with some new ways of photographing cookies, and I think I really love the whole bottle effect! Thinking of heading to Daiso to get some cheap, plain white bowls and plates for photography purposes.  Gonna try out more recipes and experiment with more photography styles soon.

Oh yeah, in the meantime, I'll nomnomnom on my delicious cookies.
じゃね!

La Vie En Rose

Brought Miss A along, R won the wildcard ticket and the three of us had a blast at the party!

The theme was RED LIPS

MUACKS!

We were supposed to dress in something that can complement the red lips!

I transformed my one and only LBD with a meshed top and a belt!
Seems like nobody recognized the dress from a previous event! HAHA!
Success!!

The representative from Mary Chia speaking to us about the programmes lined up for us.

We can enjoy express manicure sessions, a shoulder massage and try out the BMI machine.
Sounds pretty cool.

This is the BMI machine.
Some people are afraid of this, because it tells you your body FAT PERCENTAGE!

HAHAHA!
I bravely stood on it, time to face the music lol.
This machine tells me what I already know, I'm still underweight haha!
BUT IT ALSO SAYS I HAVE WATER RETENTION.
Despite the exercise I'm doing, still having water retention hahahah joke..

Okay time to up the exercise frequency~
In case you're wondering, yes my fat percentage is in perfect order. Healthy range haha!

My express manicure.
Nail polish courtesy of The Cambelles

I did a more detailed post on this colour, you can read it here

Tocco Tenero and Crocs are participating sponsors so there are products there for us to try out and spam a ton of pictures.

The Spring/Summer Collection of bags from Tocco Tenero are really bright. I guess my favourite would be the hot pink leather and velvet textured bucket bag! Such a joyful colour.
Women always love bags, need I say more?!

Knotting Hills is also a sponsor for the event, so they brought along several maxi dresses for the girls to try on and hopefully, pre-order.

I just have to say, these are meant for tall girls or girls wearing 6 inch heels.

Shorties like me hang out at the back gobbling the mini cupcakes! HAHA!

Very pretty right!!!

I think these cupcakes are awesome, It's my first time eating cupcakes because I prefer muffins.
I used to think cupcakes are pretentious baked goods hiding underneath a thick layer of sugar icing or icky buttercream.

But this is so tiny, you can eat as many as you want without feeling queasy. The cake is also soft and moist, the cream is not too sweet. By the way it's flavoured cream! So you won't feel like you're just eating whipped cream. I personally love the yellow ones, they're mango flavoured! Tastes soooo good. The chocolates cups are good stuff too, all that hazelnut goodness flooding into my mouth. I'm drooling even as I write this!!

The lovely girls from The Cambelles prepared a feature wall for phototaking, and loads of cutesy props for us to play around with.

However something uneventful happened.

R's dress caught fire HAHAHA!
So mean to laugh but it was kinda hilarious after the fire got put out. But then hot wax spilled onto her feet and she had to sit on the toilet bowl while having cooling mask applied on the wound.

So yes, enjoying a drink with a holey dress and injured feet on the toilet bowl.
VIP treatment indeed.

The lady from Tocco Tenero is announcing the lucky draw grand prize..

Guess who won?!

It's Miss A! No not the Korean pop girl group.
Very niceee, obviously you have the Tai-Tai-Ladies-Who-Brunch demeanor, hahah and now you are a certified tai tai! *stamp of approval*

This is the Little JamJar notebook that I won!

After that we fooled around with the props and took photos at the feature wall!

We were given free rein to play around with the props, then we each took a polaroid shot for lucky draw use. Pretty innovative huh!

Say hello to Harry Potter us!

Let's take a look at the goodie bag we were given!

Tocco Tenero catalog, some vouchers from the sponsors and some products.

Sticky candy, a red lip crayon and Enavose UV Umbrella Mist.

Laneige pulled out of the sponsorship due to some reasons, but they still gave us the samples!

WATER SLEEPING PACK OMGGGGG!
*goes a little insane*

I've been wanting to try this out for agesssss but Laneige is just sooo expensive!
Now I get to try them out hehh..
Hip hip hurray!

An awesome awesome day indeed.
Gonna try out the products soon, I have high hopes for Laneige!

Chanel Black Pearl

This is the express manicure I was given in the La Vie En Rose Party.

First time trying out Chanel's nail polish. I think the colour is gorgeous!
A shimmery silver grey, very classic and timeless colour.

It looks like green polish in the bottle but it's actually silver grey!
I love the micro glitter so the colour shimmers on your nails, very classy.

This is really as Coco Chanel said:

" A girl should be two things. Classy and fabulous."

However, the formula is a little thin, two coats is insufficient. Preferably three coats should be painted.
This colour also dries quickly, which is a definite plus point!

But if you ask me if I'll be splurging on a Chanel nail polish soon, my answer would still be no.
Hahah 20$ for a nail polish is definitely not on my budget. I'll stick with FaceShop polishes and China Glazes when it goes on sale in the flea market! Heehee..

That being said, if you're willing to splurge, this is definitely a must-have colour if you're looking to stock up on timeless classic colours!

Beef Sukiyaki Nabe

I confess..I have a love affair with...

BEEF SUKIYAKI NABE

The one they have at Watami is so omggggg to-die-for!!
I love love love the beef slices, so tender and yummy.
The tofu is smooth and silky.
The mushrooms absorb the soup and releases the burst of flavour when you bite into it.
The veggie are fresh and adds variety to the pot.
I love to pour the egg inside because I think it tastes nicer this way.
The soup base is seriously yummy, shoyu taste permeates the whole pot of soup.
MAD DELICIOUS.

I'm craving this a little as I type up this entry, but I just had this a a few days ago!!!!
Total addiction.

I want sukiyaki!!!

Love Shuffle

Welcome to Love Shuffle!

The story goes that the 4 main characters (refer to above cast chart top row) - Usami Kei, Aizawa Airu, Sera Ojiro and Kikuta Masato bonded during a lift breakdown, and realized they were all neighbours who stayed on the same top level mansion.

Again, refer to the above cast chart, the characters on the bottom row - Mai, Yukichi, Reiko and Kairi are the respective partners/ friends of the top row characters.

Mai is engaged to Usami, but she wanted time out of their relationship. Airu wants to break up with Yukichi but Yukichi is in refusal and denial. Reiko is just Ojiro's friends with benefits. Lastly, in Kairi's case, she is Kikuta's patient.

Because I'm more than a little obsessed with Matsuda Shota right now, I am spamming all his dramas.

I must say though, I pretty enjoyed this character.
Modern, cool, caring, serious.

So begins their Love Shuffle.

Kikuta came up with this idea called Love Shuffle, whereby they will switch their partners and try dating for a week. It will either open them up to new partners, or make them see how awesome their old partners were. In the process, they made new friends and discovered new things about themselves.

I love how they used their lift foyer as their unofficial living room. They gather here almost every night for a pajama party where they drink, have dinner, and talk.
Very heartwarming.

Sera Ojiro portrays a classic bad boy image, bad-ass free-lance photographer who specialises in shooting female potraits. The interesting thing is he's a very shy and sensitive person, but he chooses to hide them all underneath his tough boy, cool photographer image. He understands women very well, which might explain why his photos are always so real, so honest.

Ojiro's love shuffle of the week is Airu and I must confess, I was rooting for this couple!
I really loved their chemistry together, and there were sparks that makes a viewer believe strongly this couple should be together!!

When Ojiro shot photos for Airu, I thought that was the coolest and sexiest scene ever.
Okay maybe it lost a little to the cooking scene below.

Airu looked amazingggggg in the studio, and I really loved her character. It shed some light on her background, and explained why she behaved the way she is. There is something very intriguing, and real about her character that the majority viewers can identify with.

This is my favourite shot from the entire drama season.
Mai, Reiko and Kairi's shots though equally good, can't compare to the intensity and beauty of this photo. There is something very raw, exposed and honest about this shot that endears to me.

Cooking scene!!
Ojiro is one hell of a chef, which makes this character all the more hotter.

I stand by my opinions, Ojiro and Airu are a good pair.

Except he ended up with Kairi in the end, who is simply a weird character with a fetish for pandas.

See what I mean about the panda?
She talks damn little in the drama, has minimal expression and is bent on suicide.
Apparently Ojiro is the reason why she's not busy trying to kill herself. So I guess they're good for each other. Though I am still rooting for Airu. lol.

Usami and Mai

For some reason, I didn't really like Mai.
I found her character immature, self-centered and her love was kinda superficial.
But all of that was packaged nicely so it wasn't an immediate turn-off.
The curious thing about this character is that it makes you think about your own life. To me, Mai is just a rich girl who has led too pampered a life and has not been through hardships at all. She is incapable of grasping the happiness in front of her because she's unsatisfied. Her life has been too perfect. She's the classic character who goes seeking some troubles so she can mess up her perfect little life and meanwhile, see if she can be more mature in future.

Usami, on the other hand, is someone who haven't found a niche. He isn't passionate about his job, and in Mai's eyes, that diminishes him in her eyes. It kinda makes sense in a way. Usami lives one day at a time, and doesn't give much thought to the future. Not that he's irresponsible, just that he didn't want to live life worrying about things that haven't happened yet.  At the same time, he has also given in the harsh reality that passion and work do not coexist, which explains why he's slowing losing his "shine". Mai wanted Usami to find his niche and continue shining, because she knows that is where he truly belonged.

Tara Team

This pair is damn hilarious.
Tamaki Hiroshi is one comedian, I couldn't stop laughing at him even back in Nodame Cantabile.

All in all, I rate this show

I enjoyed the plot, and the characters really made me think and reflect on life.
Favourite character would be Aizawa Airu! Surprise surprise! Haha, bet you expected Sera Ojiro because I'm too obsessed with Matsuda Shota recently. ;)

4/5 stars
Definitely worth a watch!

Thai To Go

There's a new eatery in my neighbourhood.
They sent a menu and discount coupon to our letterbox, and they serve THAI FOOD.
They even entertain takeaways, which is pretty nice.

They have a wide variety of food on their menu, spoilt for choice.

The placemats are so cute, the teacups even cuter.
Mum says they resemble the metal cups in prison omg, because that's what the TV often portrays!

GREEN PAPAYA SALAD

These were not bad, papaya were pretty crunchy, and the spiciness level is just nice. I still miss the ones in Thailand though..

CRISPY CHICKEN DRUMLETS
IN HONEY SAUCE

These looks better than they taste. I think the honey wasn't sufficient to penetrate the chicken meat, so the flavour is kinda neither here nor there.

TOM YUM SEAFOOD SOUP

My favourite dish of the night!!
The soup was flavourful, the spiciness level just right. Huge crunchy mushrooms, prawns and squid. The fish is soft, and the lemongrass flavour permeates the ingredients.

Highlight of the night.

PINEAPPLE RICE

Pretty fragrant, rice is also fluffy and thoroughly flavoured.
Worth a try.

BABY KAILAN WITH MUSHROOMS

Good stuff.
This is fresh, crisp, not too salty, and the bright colour just whets your appetite.

THAI BASIL BEEF

Forgot about ordering this if you're thinking of eating there.
My mum can cook better minced beef.
In fact, they should state in the menu it's minced beef because if you go by common logic you would think it's sliced. Though the Thais often eat minced meat, it probably didn't occur to us that even we if ordered as a separate dish, they served it minced.

This is also way too spicy, loads of tiny sliced chilli and seeds lying for the unsuspecting you to consume it. You'll need jugs of water to put out the fire.

Overall, the taste of this dish is not very favourable.
More misses than hits.

SAUCY BRAISED TOFU WITH SEAFOOD

In itself, this is a pretty yummy dish.
Except it resembles the veggie dish above, and it's also suspiciously like the Hotplate Tou Fu in zichar stores! Minus points. Don't feel very Thai already.

DEEP FRIED
SWEET & SOUR SLICED FISH

This is also, in itself a dish well-done. Fish is soft and fresh BUT nothing special and only the sweet chili sauce is reminiscent of Thailand. Plus I can buy that sweet chili in the supermarket as well.
Not special, or even remotely Thai.

The verdict.
If I were to visit again, I'll prolly give their Pad Thai a try, and the Seafood Tom Yum is definitely worth 2 more return visits.
